Due to the demands of the online program, you are not able to work full time if you are enrolled in the 5-term track. You may be able to work part time if you are enrolled in the 9-term track, particularly early in the program when you have not yet started your in person clinical practica. For either track, it is not possible to work while completing clinical placements since field experience requires a commitment of three to four days per week.
The tables below represent a typical breakdown of how you can expect to dedicate your time to Speech@Emerson each semester.
The time spent in each semester indicates weekly time commitment. Coursework sections are estimates and may vary from student to student.
Time Commitment for In-Person Learning Experiences
As a student in the 5-term or 9-term track, you are required to be at your clinical practicum three to four days per week for six to eight hours per day during the full semester.
You will also attend one weekend-long immersion (typically Thursday–Saturday Sunday) at Emerson’s Boston campus where you’ll have the opportunity to practice hands-on application of concepts learned in class under the supervision of faculty and staff.
